System plan of the IT applications completed

The system plan of the IT development was completed as a result of the intensive work following the entry into the contract.

The aim of the development was to create a client application searching on-duty clinic or pharmacy, which is available also through the operating system of mobile phones and web browsers.

The application uses the actual GPS position of the user (defined by the user’s mobile phone) or the address defined by the user and shows the nearest on-duty clinic, pharmacy with their typical data.

In the course of planning, the focus was directed to have a user-friendly application which is easy to apply and available to a broad range of target groups. In order to satisfy the needs of the latter, the information will be available in 4 languages (in addition to Hungarian and Slovak also in English and German).

The hits can be displayed in text and also on maps. The application facilitates contact to the institutions (direct call) as well as route planning and access to the institution subject to the features of the device applied.

The application also contains additional supplementary functions to facilitate use (e.g., search, information, etc.).

The draft layout of some screens is shown in the figures below.

The applications are expected to be ready by September, 2014, therefore, their use may start already this year.

First stage of primary data acquisition in Hungary completed

First stage of primary (field) data acquisition in Hungary completed in the course of which the relevant data of 15 on-duty clinics and 42 pharmacies were recorded.

The area covered by the data acquisition as well as the institutions concerned are illustrated in the figure below.

A significant experience gained from the data acquisition is that differences and changes compared to the secondary data are identified in the on-duty health care service sites, the operators and the time of availability. These differences are smaller in case of the on-duty clinics and greater in case of the pharmacies.

The on-duty sites were under renovation, modernisation and removal of access obstacles in several cases from grants, therefore, they operated a new site or a temporary on-duty location.

The opening hours and on-duty timetable of the pharmacies were significantly different from the secondary research results, a number of pharmacies were closed and several new units opened (e.g., Szent Rafael Pharmacy, Kazincbarcika).

It is also concluded that the on-duty timetable of the pharmacies cannot be standardised, what is more, major differences are identified fundamentally and also with respect to principles.

Primary data collection will continue in the coming month in parallel with the IT development operations.

The applications are expected to be ready by September, 2014, therefore, their use may start already this year.

The implementation of the Health Info project has reached another milestone

The implementation of the shared online on-duty health care service monitoring system for handling the emergency situations, that is, the Health Info project has reached another significant milestone.

The contract for the IT development has been signed recently in the framework of which the applications will be developed to allow the access to and queries into the on-duty health care service data. The target groups may access the application through the most popular platforms (iOS, android, Windowsphone) and on the web.

The ‘on-duty health care service monitoring’ system to be developed in the framework of the project is to provide up to the minute data about the on-duty health care and pharmacy services available on the selected areas of Hungary and Slovakia (Borsod-Abaúj-Zemplén County and Kosice County).

At this time, no services of such kind are available either in Hungary or Slovakia, therefore, its design and introduction can be considered as innovative in the two countries.

The significance of the application is that it provides up-to-date data about the on-duty health care services available and provides a list of the on-duty health care service providers, which are the nearest and can be accessed fastest.

By means of the services, the people living and working in the area as well as the visitors may have a greater level of safety in case of eventual emergencies.

The applications will be completed by September, 2014, therefore, their use may start already this year.

The collection of data of the on-duty health care services also started in Slovakia

After the work in Hungary, the collection of data of the on-duty health care services also started in Kosice County. Similarly to the practice in Hungary, secondary data acquisition will also take place in the first stage, which will be the basis of the primary data acquisition to be carried out later on.

The on-duty health care service monitoring system is scheduled to be completed by September, 2014, therefore, it will be available for use already this year.
